2018 Hyundai Creta! – Perfection Has Been Created!
First launched at the Beijing Auto Show in 2014, the Hyundai Creta SUV has managed to take both the Chinese and Indian markets by storm, and is now quickly doing the same on South African shores.
This outstanding Compact Sports Utility Vehicle shares its Hyundai platform with the current Hyundai i30 and gives South Africans a Crossover Vehicle that is extremely affordable, while still offering ample interior space, rugged off-roader looks, higher ground clearance and an abundance of safety as well as comfort features. The Hyundai Creta SUV is no slouch in the looks department either, as the eye catching wide grille, its commanding stance, stylish rising shoulder line and its floating roof all combine to create is an unforgettable mix of SUV stylings and Hyundai’s fluidic design language.
“There is really nothing that should deter a buyer from considering this vehicle. Instead there is a great deal the Creta offers to be a strong contender in its segment.”
“The Creta will compete against the likes of the Mazda CX-3, Mitsubishi ASX and Nissan Qashqai, and offers an overall package that can compete with whatever the competition throws at it. The Creta is also one of a few crossovers in SA to offer a diesel variant for under R400 000.”
“It offers everything that you need from a compact SUV. Features: tick. Design: tick. Good road manners: tick. Space: tick. It’s all the compact SUV you need. ”

The Hyundai Creta at a Glance
Although not as large as the Tucson or Santa Fe, the Creta is an impressive vehicle in its own right. For one, it is surprisingly tall and even boast a better ground clearance than its larger cousin the Tucson. Overall the Creta offers a bold yet sophisticated look that is enhanced by the three-slated chrome grille, sharp headlamps and LED daytime running lights. From the side the Creta has a crisp clean look to it and as one makes their way around the vehicle the small rear spoiler that is nicely integrated into the body is a pleasant surprise. Overall the Creta is a good looking vehicle, and one that will never look out of place when parked next to any one of the more expensive SUV’s that are currently available in South Africa. Size wise, when compared to the Tucson the Creta is 205 mm shorter in length and 70 mm in width, but this is barely noticeable in either the way it looks or feels (both inside and outside).
Executive Comfort Comes as Standard
Perfect for long drives with the family or daily trips to the office, the Creta is packed full of comfort and safety features that not only make driving fun but also effortless. All of the current trim levels come with the same Executive Specifications as standard, and include a number of features that one would only expect to find in a much more expensive vehicle. These include (but are by no means limited to) cornering headlights, alloy wheels, rear parking sensors, a reverse camera, and a 20 cm infotainment screen that includes navigation functionality. Leather seats are also standard across the entire range, which adds to the Executive comfort levels of this phenomenal SUV.
A Punchy Performance that Might Surprise Many
With a choice of either a 1.6-litre petrol or 1.6-litre diesel there is no shortage of punchy power under the hood of the new Creta. Both the six-speed manual and six-speed automatic gearbox engines put out a magnificent 90kW/150Nm, while the diesel engine pushes out a staggering 94kW/260Nm. The drive experience created by these engines is comfortable over both long and short haul drives and is helped by one of the Creta’s strongest assets – its next generation suspension! This marriage of power, control and drive comfort allows the Creta to hold its own on tar, gravel, and even tough South African backroads.
