Looks Definitely Matter

Without stating the obvious, styling certainly is top class highlighted by the slanted roofline, sleek bonnet and impressive air-intake design. The turbo badge on the radiator grille, the 17-inch alloy wheels and impressive aerodynamic lines further accentuate styling.

Inspired by energy and movements in nature, the design of the Hyundai Elantra certainly showcases what automotive engineering has become. In fact, results speak for themselves as the Hyundai Elantra 1.6 T-GDi is lighter, more aerodynamic and more energy efficient.

The cabin features sufficient head- and legroom with a reported 458 litres of boot space and a selection of other useful gadgets. Interior includes leather seats, electric windows, a fully integrated sound system, SatNav, multi-function steering wheel with cruise control, Bluetooth, USB and Aux capabilities. And in terms of mobile device integration, the technology is a cut above the rest.

Everyone with a family knows safety comes first and here the Elantra impresses even more. Besides the 6 airbags, rear-park assist, Uni-body design and advanced impact-sensing door unlocking system, the Hyundai Elantra comes standard with built-in ISOFIX attachments. This allows child seats to be mounted more securely putting your little ones in the best hands possible.

Hyundai Elantra 1.6 T-GDi Specifications and Performance

A standout feature of the new Hyundai Elantra 1.6 T-GDi is the versatile seven-speed EcoShift dual clutch transmission (DCT). It offers drivers a choice of Eco or Sport modes along with automatic or manual cog-swapping. For those who don’t know, DCT uses two separate clutches for odd and even gear sets. It can be seen as two separate manual transmissions where both are contained in one housing but work in unison to achieve a smooth and enjoyable ride.

Underneath all the elegance and style lies a powerful 1.6 litre turbocharged engine producing an impressive 150kW and 265Nm. Top speed is around 210km/h and 0-100km/h takes just 7.7 seconds. Overall performance can be compared to the Veloster Turbo but the transmission in the Elantra is far more intuitive. Damping is also slightly firmer while the steering is leap years ahead of the outgoing model. The new turbo engine and multi-link rear suspension certainly added some impetus which has resulted in a great all-rounder.

The Elantra Elite derivative includes a five-year 90 000km service plan and a five-year 150 000km warranty. The Hyundai Elantra 1.6 T-GDi is more than just a stylish, sporty family car. Based on performance, specifications and price, it’s certainly standing tall against the premium counterparts. Book a Test Drive today.
